Lag Issues for the PS4 Version of Prey Will Be Fixed When Released

Lag Issues for Prey Will Be Fixed

Last week, a demo for the upcoming game Prey was released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, alongside the news that there will be no early release copies of the title for review. Since the demo came out some players with the PS4 version have complained about a few problems.

Since the Prey demo came out, players have suffered through input lag. This input lag is where there is a noticeable delay between when you press the button or move the joysticks, and when the movement or action occurs on the screen. Luckily for Xbox One players, this version did not suffer from this problem.

Thankfully, Bethesda has addressed the problem, stating that they are aware of it, and have assured fans that this input lag will be fixed upon the full release of the game. An account over on NeoGAF,  Bethesda Community Lead Gstaff, had this to say about the planned fix: “To get a little more technical on the update: To address input lag, the fix within the final release in the game changes the raw input curve on the PS4 controller to be more responsive at the low end, and to tweak responsiveness to the center point on the controller (narrowing the dead zone). The net result is faster/more responsive movement.

Although it’s disappointing that the PS4 version of the demo is riddled with this input lag, the fact that Bethesda has addressed the issue gives fans hope that they will listen to feedback for the full game in the future as well. And of course it’s good that this is something that will be fixed when the full game is released at the end of the week, on May 5th! The game will be available on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
