The Switch Already Outperforming Nintendo’s Last Console in the UK
The Nintendo Switch has been received well around the world. A report from Wccftech confirms that Nintendo’s newest console has sold 80,000 units in the UK over the course of its first weekend available.
This is a serious improvement over the Wii U, which sold as many units (in the UK) in the last quarter of 2013. Weekly sales charts for games in the United Kingdom are also out, with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild climbing to #2 in its first week. The top spot went to Horizon: Zero Dawn, another excellent game with a larger install base on the PS4.
Given the cavalcade of fantastic reviews, it seems likely that Breath of the Wild will keep sales of the Nintendo Switch fairly brisk for its first quarter available. Whether or not the console will meet Nintendo’s expectations remains to be seen, but so far things are looking up for the Switch.
