A New and Different PS4 Slim? A Thinner PS4 Pro? Questions Abound
Apparently, Sony is coming out with a slimmer PS4. This latest rumor comes from Taiwanese newspaper named Digitimes, a report from a recent article. And in said report, they deliver some extra news on the Switch and Microsoft’s Scorpio.
Concerning the Scorpio, Digitimes reports that the new console is being manufactured by Petragon Technology and Flextronics – the go-to manufacturers for Xbox consoles. Therefore, their revenue shall find plenty of contribution on the part of Microsoft. Expect that number to increase if the console does well in retail.
Also worth noting is that the Taiwanese newspaper gave a projected outcome for the year’s Nintendo Switch shipments. Nintendo’s manufacturer is Foxconn Electronics and they are expected to ship 20 million Nintendo Switch consoles. Side note: If Nintendo actually sold that many Switches by the end of the year, they will come close to outselling Xbox One who has a three-year head start.
As for the new, “thinner,” PS4 console, we don’t yet know whether it will be a thinner version of the PS4 Pro or the refined PS4 Slim (which may as well be called PS4 Anorexic). We believe the former will be the case, Sony’s means of releasing a new product against the novel Scorpio. Needless to say, we do not anticipate anything of a powerhouse system, but there’s no telling just yet.
Remember to take everything with a grain of salt, as such distant reports are subject to vicissitudes.
