Tied with Two Other Titles, Persona 5 Scores Highest Rated JRPG on Metacritic, Showing That the Upcoming Atlus Game Was Well worth the Wait
Those following the Persona series know that it’s been nearly forever since Atlus graced their fans with a new title, and there’s only so much Persona 4 you can play until the 2008 title makes you crave a new installment in the series, but the scores that have been rolling out prove that Persona 5 was well worth the wait. While the game still hasn’t officially released yet (it won’t be out until April this year, so hang in a little while longer Persona fans), the embargo has lifted on reviews, and some exciting news has come forth! Persona 5 scores highest rated JRPG on Metacritic, and the game now holds the title as one of the most astounding and impressive Japanese roleplaying games ever. In the eyes of Metacritic, that is.
The only two other JRPG titles to get a score of 94% on the multimedia review website, and they’re both PlayStation One classic titles. Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy IX are both up there, but they’re the only Japanese RPGs to have made that high of a ranking on the site. So if you’ve ever liked any JRPG ever, expect to have it blown away completely by Persona 5, but, according to Metacritic, it’s not as good as some other Western-made RPG titles such as Skyrim.
