The Audio in GET EVEN Changes to Player Actions

The Sounds in GET EVEN Change along with the Gamer’s Actions as They Play

The upcoming psychological thriller from Farm 51, GET EVEN, will include changing audio that responds to a player’s actions. Scored by Olivier Deriviere, who has won IFMCA awards for his work as a composer, has been referred to as “game music’s eclectic daredevil.” GET EVEN‘s soundtrack is surely an expressive medium for his talents, and the game is sure to make you feel even more unsettled as the emotional audio conforms to your every move.

Explained by Deriviere, through the use of real-time MIDI, live musicians recorded in ambisonics, and other audio tricks combined, the gaming environment itself becomes an orchestra that’s waiting to be conducted, with everything surrounding it filled with potential to become an instrument. Together with 3D audio, the game’s overall objective is to keep you on your toes and make you feel unsettled, and that’s exactly what it does.

For instance, if you revisit a room, the audio will change and make you feel as if something… just isn’t right about it, even if nothing has changed. Check out Olivier Deriviere’s video that goes into detail about the power of music below!

You can play the game as Cole Black, who wakes up in an abandoned asylum with a bunch of jumbled up memories surrounding it when GET EVEN comes out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 16.
