Nintendo Switch Battery Comes From the Galaxy Note 7 Battery Supplier

The Nintendo Switch Battery Will Share the Same Manufacturer as the Exploding Galaxy Note 7

What does the infamously exploding Galaxy Note 7 battery and the Nintendo Switch battery have in common? They’ll be coming from the same manufacturer. Since some Switches have been recently stolen and resold before the console’s launch date, we were bound to see someone take it apart to get a look at all of its hardware soon. Well, it certainly didn’t take long. In a recent dissection of the Nintendo Switch, we got to see all the juicy details about what core components will be making up the framework of Nintendo’s next portable/home console hybrid, including the battery that will be powering your gaming on the go.

As you can see from the photo, the Hong-Kong based mobile battery firm, Amperex, has its name right there on the battery itself. While Amperex was indeed the battery supplier for the exploding Galaxy Note 7 phone, mixed reports from both sides made placing the blame for the faulty mobile device a touch decision. While on one hand, Amperex is a leading supplier for mobile device batteries and many signs pointed to the issue being an oversight from Samsung themselves, Samsung very graciously blamed the dangerous mishap on the battery supplier and not on their own hardware.

No matter who’s to blame for the Galaxy Note 7’s interesting debut, there’s probably nothing to worry about when it comes to the integrity of the hardware in the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has an outstanding record of keeping their consoles neat, clean, and up to strict industry standards, so it would be shocking if anyone made a report about a Switch exploding while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild during a family trip in the car.

The Nintendo Switch launches on March 3, 2017.
