Square Enix Already Has Final Fantasy XV Running on PC as an Experimental Build
We are that much closer to getting Final Fantasy XV on PC, as Dualshockers recently visited Square Enix and discovered that the developers currently have the game running on PC. The team is currently “conducting technical experiments on visual fidelity” and using Final Fantasy XV as their lab rat. The port is not a product as of now, but an experimental version with graphics that requires two GTX 1080 video cards to run.
Square Enix is also taking a different approach to the team behind Final Fantasy XV. After games are published, developers typically move most staff to other projects, but director Hajime Tabata stated that 70% of the team are still hard at work to release free updates, DLC, and VR content. Tabata said that plans are currently in place for a full year of content.
Hajime Tabata had stated in an interview just a week ago that he would “like to release the game on PC as a technical attempt. I want to show PC users Final Fantasy XV running on high-end machines, and we personally would like to see it, too.” He added that he wanted to try to release the game on PC with exclusive features, such as mods and player-created quests.
