We See Nintendo Switch’s Game Lineup Building and Diversifying
In June of last year, Deadalic Entertainment announced their new sci-fi thriller tited State of Mind. The game is a 3-D adventure that takes player’s down the lanes of the human condition. But it does this by innovating storytelling and gameplay. Written by renowned author Martin Ganteföhr, players will get to explore a future of compelling fiction that let’s players make world-changing decisions. And today, Daedalic announced it will be releasing for Nintendo Switch.
State of Mind is a futuristic thriller game delving into transhumanism. The game explores themes of separation, disjuncture and reunification, in a world that is torn between a dystopian material reality and a utopian virtual future.
In this dystopian world Richard Nolan, a father and journalist, tries to survive with his family. The industry’s solution to all of humanity’s problems, though, seems to be a new virtual world. Through mind transfer, people live their lives in a peaceful place called CITY 5.
Exactly as it sounds, players will be switching between virtual reality and real-life within one playthrough. Meanwhile switching between real life and State of Mind no matter which console you play. Right off the bat, this game has got an Inception depth to it. Except, it seems the player character exists in two worlds at once, so actions might concurrent.
Upon realizing that he is literally a torn man, Richard sets out on a dramatic and dangerous search for salvation. He aims to reunite with his family, as well as with his own split self. On his way, he soon realizes that this journey isn’t only about him, but about the future of mankind.
While Daedalic says we’ll be playing multiple characters, we have yet to know who we’ll play beyond Richard and his virtual self. Fortunately, all info points to a mind-stimulating and multi-faceted adventure; not your typical RPG. So if anyone’s felt their recent game narratives to be lackluster, State of Mind may be the recuperation you need. The same is now applicable to future Switch owners.
Expect Nintendo Switch March 3rd of this year. And if you haven’t reserve yours already, watch out for those pre-orders. State of Mind’s release date has yet to be announced, but it is now one in a growing list of titles for Nintendo’s latest console. We’ll keep you updated as they come, so stay tuned to COGconnected. Happy gaming.
