Not Only Is Shovel Knight Getting New Gameplay Modes and New Campaigns, It Will Also Be Coming to Nintendo Switch
You can expect a lot coming this year from Yacht Club Games’ indie title featuring a tiny, blue, shovel-wielding hero of the same name, Shovel Knight. This year, they plan on starting things off with a name change. The game will be split into individual taglines, with the main title being called Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The original campaign mode will be separated into its own individual tag, Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope. The two major campaign updates, Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment, will both be separated into their own entities, as they’ll both be released as standalone games at some point in the near future.
A local four player battle mode is in the works, along with a fourth campaign. PC players will be getting a previously Wii U exclusive additional local co-op mode and will be seeing the fourth campaign, King Knight’s Campaign, sometime later this year. Owners of Shovel Knight will get all of these free campaigns and gameplay modes in 2017, however, the price of the game is set to rise in the Spring to balance things out.
Shovel Knight will also be coming to Nintendo Switch! It has been confirmed that the title will indeed be coming to Nintendo’s new console, but there’s no word on if we will be seeing it at launch.
