Sledgehammer Teasing Next Era For 2017’s Call of DutyÂ
Call of Duty developer, Sledgehammer Games have taken to Twitter recently and may have just revealed the era of 2017’s Call of Duty title, a game they will be releasing later this year. Sledgehammer co-developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward, and developed Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which released in 2014.
We usually we don’t get an official reveal for the annual Call of Duty game until around May, but it’s not unusual to get the occasional tease to build up hype. You may recall Infinity Ward posting an image of an astronaut early in 2016, which eventually fell inline with their futuristic Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare game. Sledgehammer’s recent tweets lead us to believe the game will take place sometime in the early 1900’s. Their first tweet below gives us an image of a weapon from a different era.

The weapon appears to be a M1911 Pistol, which was created in 1911. This means we could have a game that is set during a major conflict of the 20th century. This was all just speculation until Sledgehammer once again Tweeted another message that showcased a mechanical engine that counts to 2017.
It’s officially 2017! Some call it the zodiac year of the Hammer. Have a safe and fun New Year’s, everyone! #SHGholidays pic.twitter.com/24qlku6ITd

If you listen carefully you can hear an old bell tower or an old clock chime towards the end of the video. This also supports the theory the game could take place in the early 1900’s. This is all just speculation at this point as Activision have not released any official info regarding the next Call of Duty game.
Is Call of Duty finally going back to its roots? Only time will tell and we will be sure to share with you more information when it is released.
