Developer Interviews Hint at a Sequel to From Software’s Lovecraftian Romp
The rumour mill is churning once again, this time with whispers of a Bloodborne sequel coming out in 2017.
MXDWN has pieced together some compelling information from a variety of fairly reputable sources.
According to MXDWN, interviews conducted late last year with two Bloodborne developers suggest that “activity at the studio has continued” since the game’s release. This continued activity is expected to lead to a title release sometime this year. While developers are an excellent source of data, they’re by no means a definitive confirmation.
Following this, there’s a confirmation from Hidetaka Miyazaki (via last year’s TGS) mentioning “that his company is working on three new games, all at the same time.” Miyazaki offered no official titles, only hints and clues. He did say that a followup to Armoured Core was coming, which isn’t Bloodborne, but still good news. Miyazaki also alluded to two other projects, one more standard and one he considered “weird.” He confessed that reaction to the announcement would be baffled, musing that “probably the fans will react like ‘oh, what the hell is this game that Miyazaki has created?’”
Given the information at hand, we can be sure that From Software will release games this year. Possibly even three of them. None of this is a lock for Bloodborne 2 coming out, although the developer comments are promising. Hopefully there will be more concrete announcements coming during this year’s crop of conferences and expos.
