New Details Announced for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Survival Update

Uncharted 4 Survival Update Details

This past weekend we wrote that Naughty Dog would be releasing details during a livestream on Twitch earlier today and boy did they ever. The Survival update for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is out tomorrow!

The patch is huge, at 3.7 GB, which means that you’ll be in for a bit of wait, depending on your download speeds. While it is a large update, it is to be expected considering the amount of new content being released. The content includes the new survival co-op mode in five different difficulties: easy, moderate, hard, crushing and hardcore and will include “RPG elements” with character progression and increasing enemy difficulty after each wave. If you die in hardcore mode, it’s game over, simple as that.

Completion times are stored on the servers, therefore Naughty Dog is expecting players to start competing for the fastest times. Relics will be awarded in co-op by completing stages, and will be earned at a comparable rate to the competitive modes. The more time you play the survival mode, the more relics you will receive, whether playing it on co-op or individually.

A similar game mode to Halo’s “King of the Hill” is being released with the update for public testing, as well as two new maps: “Train Wreck” and “Prison.” New skins and customization items are also available in the update, including unlocks for the new level cap, at level 80 and 90. At both of those levels you will receive Djinn Skull headgear, either the bloody or wraith version respectively. Co-op progression will be separate, as players will start from level 1 in the new survival mode.

As a way to bring the previous chapters of the Uncharted series back to life, there will be new music and weapons available as a part of this update as well, and each multiplayer skin earned will get 25 new selectable color combinations! Check out some of the content available in the new update below, as shown at PSX 2016.
