Maps and More, New Game Modes and Tons of Unlockable Presents Breathe New Life into Modern Warfare Remastered
There is a whole Santa-sized sack of goodies inbound for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered this holiday season. The update includes six new maps, 2 new game modes, a slew of cosmetic options as well as a couple treats that will actually be functional.
The update brings the six remaining maps from the original Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to the game. These maps include:
-Bloc: Russian apartment block with a lot of oportunity for close quarters combat.
-Countdown: huge launch pad, be wary of snipers in this large open map.
-Pipeline: A great team map with plenty of oportunities to coordinate throughout this ballanced Russian train yard..
-Showdown: Little, fast paced desert arena. No where to run, no where to hide.
-Strike: Another great team map featuring a large desert town.
-Wet Work: An all out brawl on a medium cargo ship.
Also, for the first time on consoles, players can play the holiday-skinned, Crash. Though this map isn’t exactly new, it is a perfect holiday addition complete with helicopters covered in little colorful lights! There is also reportedly a number of Easter eggs worked into this map and we can’t wait to see what the developers have in store. In addition to the maps, which are all free, C.O.D. Modern Warfare Remastered is getting a few other additions guaranteed to infuse the game with plenty of new reasons to grind. Of the two new game modes, Gun Game is the most interesting – everybody starts out with the same low end pistol, which is replaced by progressively better weapons as you score kills. The first person to get through all the weapons and score a kill with the top tier gun wins, but watch out as suicides and getting killed by melee will drop you back a tier. Hardpoint is also being added to playlists, giving players another variation of king of the hill to throw into the mix for the holidays.
New characters are also dropping with this update. Apparently you will be able to unlock and play female characters for the first time! The developers have promised that they have taken character silhouettes into consideration when making these new character models – nobody wants a tiny character like Oddjob slinking around and ruining everyones aim.
On the purely cosmetic end, two new weapon camo options are available: Gift Wrap and Ugly Sweater, so you can hide under the holiday tree and dole out presents to your enemies in the form of lead! Some features like emblems and calling cards will now have animated options to select, and finally, there will be new melee weapons. Whether the new weapons are holiday themed or will function differently remains to be seen, you’ll have to get the free update and get playing!
