Bethesda’s Todd Howard Will Be Inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame
Todd Howard’s induction makes him the 22nd addition to the Academy of Interactive Arts & Science’ Hall of Fame. And he is to be officially recognized in February, at the DICE Awards in Las Vegas. Gamers may be familiar with Howard’s more recent work as Director of Skyrim and Fallout 4. But, for over a decade, he has been involved in well-know titles raking in thousands of hour of immersive gameplay.
So it happens. By joining the Gaming Hall of Fame, Todd Howard falls among the venerable ranks of Hideo Kojima, Leslie Benzies, Tim Sweeney, Gabe Newell, Shigeru Miyamoto, and BioWare founders Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka.
Known for many titles spanning his career, he was recently recognized for all of them by receiving this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Moreover, his titles have pushed the boundaries of player immersion, Fallout 4 being his most recent. Now Howard’s contributions are furthered recognized by his induction into the Gaming Hall of Fame.
Probably no surprise to many. Regardless of player reception to his individual productions, there’s no denying that his extensive work with Bethesda has improved gaming. From 1994 onward, he’s worked on and headed The Elder Scrolls — Daggerfall, The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Skyrim. Thus consistently pushing forward quality games.
So far, nominees for the DICE Awards have not been announced. But we will keep our eyes open for any news until then, and look forward to all games and events in 2017. DICE(Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) is not connected to Battlefield developer DICE.
