Xbox One Beats PS4 In US, UK and Australia Again
For the past four months Xbox One has beat the PS4 sales in the United States, and in October, Microsoft took the victory in the United Kingdom and Australia as well. While this is considered the longest Xbox One dominance of sales since both consoles were launched 3 years ago, we have to wonder if the PS4 will make a huge comeback with the release of the PS4 Pro. With the beginning of the holiday season and Black Friday coming up later this month it will be interesting to see where the sales lie. Let the console competition continue!
The sale information is based on data gathered by the NPD Group and was shared with Microsoft whose vice president, Mike Nichols, had this to say about it, “Thanks to the passion of Xbox fans worldwide and their continued excitement for Xbox One S, Xbox One was once again the best-selling console in October in the U.S., U.K. and Australia.”
Microsoft maintains that the number and quality of games available to Xbox One is driving the uptick in sales. It specifically credited Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1 for the 52 percent increase in multiplayer users over 2015 figures. To help keep this advantage, Microsoft has released the Xbox One bundles targeted for the holidays. These include Gears of War, Battlefield, Minecraft, and FIFA options.
While the release of the PS4 Pro, it could be time for Sony to make a huge comeback, however even with the release of the Playstation 4 Slim and the Playstation VR, Xbox One still took the lead in sales for September and October. One can argue that the Xbox One S was also released in August and it must have countered the impact of the PlayStation 4 Slim.
Will Xbox One beat out the PS4 for a 5th month in a row or have Playstation users have simply been biding their time for sweet deals and newer consoles over the holiday season? Either way, a congratulations to Microsoft for their ongoing sales hot streak!
