PS4 Takes Back Top Spot After Cyber Monday Sales
After the Xbox One outsold the PlayStation 4 for a 4th month in a row in October in the US, it seemed like the Xbox One was on the upswing in the battle between the consoles. Of course with record breaking sales for both Black Friday and Cyber Monday the PS4 has reclaimed its spot on the throne once again, at least for the month of November!
Adobe released reports for the online shopping data for Cyber Monday and Black Friday, as well as for the Holiday Season (November 1st onwards). According to their data, Black Friday set a new online sales record coming in at 3.34 billion dollars, an increase of almost 22% from 2015! This past Saturday, when the report on Black Friday was released, the director of Adobe Digital Insights, Tamara Gaffney, stated ” Black Friday may have just dethroned Cyber Monday’s position as the largest online shopping day of the year.”
She was quickly proven wrong after the sales of Cyber Monday surpassed the ones on Black Friday with a total of 3.39 billion dollars in sales, an increase of just over 10% from 2015 sales! According to Tamara Gaffney the Cyber Monday sales surpassed their forecast by almost $27 million or 0.8 percent. With the huge deals offered it’s not surprising that Cyber Monday 2016 is the largest online sales day in history!
According to Adobe’s press release the five top-selling electronic products over the Black Friday weekend, inclusive of Cyber Monday, were the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Samsung 4K TVs, Apple iPads and Amazon Fire. Moreover, the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console for the entire season holiday season so far (November 1-28), Pokémon Sun & Moon lead in software sales, Samsung 4K TVs lead in television sales and iPad Air 2 leads in tablet sales.
