Producer Graham King Confirms Tomb Raider Reboot Storyline
It has been 13 years now since we saw Angelina Jolie take on the iconic role appearing originally in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 followed by the sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in 2003. So to say we are long overdue for a new Tomb Raider movie would be an undertstatement. Today, we learned that according to the producers behind the next Tomb Raider movie, starring Alicia Vikander, a central plot point of the movie will revolve around Lara Croft’s quest to find her missing father Lord Richard Croft.
In a recent interview with pop culture site HeyUGuys, producer Graham King talked about how, in the film, the ultimate fate of Lara’s father is still unknown and that is part of what drives Lara into her life of adventuring. He said:
“Well this is kind of what we call a ‘back to the roots story’. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and i think we’ve got the right crew and a great director and I think it’s going to be really fun making a film like this.”
There’s no word yet on who will play the father of Vikander’s Lara Croft but the film itself does have a projected release date of March 16, 2018.
