Crackdown 3 Not Cancelled
It has been radio silence from the Crackdown 3 marketing team for quite some time now. Recently, rumors surfaced that the game may have been cancelled. Well, Phil Spencer confirmed today that the open world game currently in development by Reagent Games is alive and well. Those rumors are completely groundless.
Answering a question on Twitter, Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that Crackdown 3 is still in the works, and it seems like things are looking good. Spencer had the chance to check out a recent build and said it looked good, with the iconic Crackdown look being present in full force. If you feared the game would never come out, you can rest easy, at least for now.

Back in June, it was confirmed Crackdown 3 will be released sometime next year. According to the game Creative Director Dave Jones, releasing the game in 2016 would compromise the team’s goals. At the same time, it’s been confirmed that the game will an Xbox Play Anywhere game, like the recently released ReCore, Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4. Jones said the following:
“Crackdown 3 is a game built for the future with a multiplayer experience that will redefine what it feels like to play games, and as we continue to work on this, it has become clear that our original timeline of delivering multiplayer to fans this summer, while maintaining the size, scope and quality of the game, would be challenging. Our top priority is to give gamers an experience they have never seen before at a scale never thought possible, and sticking to our original timeline would have compromised that goal.”
Crackdown 3 launches on PC and Xbox One on a yet to be confirmed 2017 release date.
