Cards Against Humanity’s Holiday Hole Dig Is An Odd Form of Protest

Holiday Hole is a Giant F You to the State of Society

Cards Against Humanity is pretty famous for their weird stunts (and their hilarious card game, of course). From ‘sales’ that raise the prices of their products, to sales that offer no benefit to the buyer, to literally selling Bull shit to customers, the stunts have always been both confusing and entertaining.

This year’s stunt, however, may be the weirdest we’ve seen yet. This year, your donations do towards the digging of an enormous and meaningful(?) Holiday Hole. Don’t believe us? There’s a live feed featuring the digging of said Holiday Hole. The question is – why?

According to the Holiday Hole site, there are two fantastic reasons to tear the earth asunder as they are. 1) the holidays are here. 2) everything in America is going really well. Is that a little bit of sarcasm we sense?

It’s no secret that the Cards Against Humanity crew lean more towards the liberal side of the political spectrum, but we kind of fail to see how digging a hole (instead of, you know, supporting programs and people that represent your values) is going to help their political cause. Don’t get us wrong, this is a really dumb, funny stunt and we’re all for it. BUT, we’d like it even more if we could see where the $80000 (as of this writing) is going to end up.

What’s even more interesting is that people are donating money anyway, when in practical terms there are probably piles of deserving organizations that could desperately use those funds to support important social programs or do other humanitarian things. Then again, I suppose digging a hole of this size could be considered a humanitarian effort.

I digress. Watch the Holiday Hole grow, and chuckle at the absurdity of the world we live in.
