Fantastic Adventure Game ‘Firewatch’ Jumps to Xbox One
Once upon a time it looked like developer Campo Santo’s amazing game, Firewatch was to be a PC/PS4 exclusive. As is the case with many games it looks like Firewatch will be platform jumping and joining the ranks of great indie games also available on the Xbox One. Announced on the Campo Santo blog, we’ll see the game debut on Xbox One this coming Sept. 21.
Along with the main game, it will also include the Firewatch Audio Tour. A free update for all customers it’s one part scavenger hunt, one part museum tour, one part game dev workshop, mixed with a dash of inside Campo Santo goofs. Furthermore, they’re going to be rolling out a free-roam mode to all customers, beginning with Xbox One. In free roam, you’ll be able to live in the Shoshone with a full day/night cycle and explore with a few hidden secrets.
We reviewed Firewatch when it was first released giving it a stellar 90-point score. Reviewer Paul Sullivan summed up his experience saying, “It’s a curious experience and one that has continued to shift my perception of what a game is. In this case, it’s walking through a stunning forest while chatting frankly with a character you’ve never really met. And that was more than enough for me to feel fulfilled. Go on; spend an afternoon with Firewatch. It has a few unsightly spots, but it’s still a tremendous and thought-provoking experience for anyone who loves a good adventure.”
