Nintendo NX To Apparently Be Named “Nintendo Focus”, Amidst Other Speculation
An Anonymous poster on 4chan posted an some very intriguing information, according to this article from the fine folks over at Keengamer. The post in question cites a number of details, such as the release date of the console, the name of the console, the opening roster of launch titles, and the planned releases for the launch window. We’ll give you a quick summary below, because there’s some interesting correlations that give this leak a bit of credibility, and the name doesn’t sound too shabby either.
The console, apparently being named the Nintendo Focus, will be coming out on March 10, 2017, according to the post. Now it’s easy to simply pick a date, however Nintendo is on record as saying they are aiming for a March launch for the highly anticipated console. Â This could possibly be confirmed at a special event coming September 21st. Be this an actual conference, or if it’s a Nintendo Direct is still up in the air, but it’d be incredibly interesting to see Nintendo put something on publicly and in person, especially for their next console.
That’s not all however, the user in question goes on to suggest a number of titles that will be available at launch for the Nintendo Focus, which we’ll summarize below:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Focus (Wii U & 3DS content + DLC + Wolf, Pichu, Ice Climbers, Shovel Knight)
- Super Smash Bros. Melee HD (HD models for all characters, techs and frame data intact)
- Pokemon Gold and Silver (Focus Virtual Console Exclusive, Pokemon Bank Compatible)
- F-Zero^2 (Developed by Retro Studios, Squared Subtitle)
The user also goes on to note a Launch Window for the Nintendo Focus, citing the following titles that would be released within the year or so after the Nintendo Focus’ release. The user listed the following, in this case:
- Super Mario Focus
- Animal Crossing Election Year
- Pikmin 4
- Pokemon Sun and Moon (3DS Port, Takes Advantage of Focus Native Features)
- Pileow (New IP, Good-Feel Developed)
Again, there are some very interesting suggestions, especially since we know some of these titles are being worked on, such as Breath Of The Wild, and Pikmin 4. Naturally, it wouldn’t be a console launch for Nintendo without their flagship plumber taking the stage either, right?
Bear in mind, this is all entirely speculation, but a few factors, such as the window suggested by Nintendo, the rumors of a Super Smash Bros. Melee re-mastering, along with a GOTY edition of Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS. There are also other sources having noted that Nintendo plans to have an NX, or should we say, Nintendo Focus oriented event in September. With the suggested date being just about a month away, this is definitely something to keep in mind.
