Let’s Go Questing In Fallout Shelter 1.6
Fallout Shelter surprised the heck out of gamers at E3 2015, becoming one of the first mobile games to successfully harness the power of a AAA franchise. Of course, Pokémon Go is dominating the mobile market currently, but Fallout Shelter 1.6 is adding a ton of new features and depth to what was already an interesting distraction from real life.
Fallout Shelter 1.6 is no longer mobile only, for a start. The PC version of Bethesda’s title is finding its way on to an internet near you as we speak, though you’ll need to download the bethesda.net launcher to get your hands on it. Word on the street (aka from Bethesda) is that the PC release includes all the goodies added to Fallout Shelter since launch, including the 1.6 enhancements.
The first big new feature in Fallout Shelter 1.6 is quests. That’s right, the game now allows vault dwellers to take on specific challenges outside the vault, gather sweet loot, and face off against boss characters. In short, it’s a much more involved and interesting game now, thanks to the ability to directly control your vault residents.
Enhanced combat features like choosing targets and playing a critical hit minigame ought to also keep players engaged, and less likely to yell at their phone when security starts shooting the wrong radroach.
With over 50 million downloads at Bethesda’s last count, it seems likely that Fallout Shelter 1.6 will be a pretty successful release for the Fallout team. Here’s hoping that A) it’s awesome, and B) it inspires more cool experiences like this from AAA studios.
