Sony Confirms PS4 Neo A No-Show At E3 2016

Sony Does Confirm PS4 Neo Exists, However

After a whole mess of speculation on just what the PS4 Neo is exactly, Andrew House has confirmed two things: The PS4 Neo is a thing, but it will not be shown at E3 this year. The system is intended to be sold alongside the PS4, as House noted “It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4, We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.”. While it’s disappointing to find we won’t get a chance to see the brand new system, it’s still good news to hear that it actually exists, and is not just a fever dream of ours.

PS4 NEO

It’s still quite under wraps as to what the PS4 Neo actually is, but we do know that it is going to be a “high-end” system. Whether this is a case similar to the 3DS and New 3DS remains to be seen, but it is an interesting move on Sony’s behalf. The PS4 is selling like gangbusters already, but it remains to be seen how people will actually take the purported 4k gaming system. The library is going to have a lot of overlap with PS4 titles already, along with Neo exclusive titles. Whether this is purely for games, or if it will only be for non-interactive content remains to be seen. There are many questions surrounding the PS4 Neo, and many were banking on it rearing its head at E3 this year. We aren’t counting anything out, but if this is true, we may have to look to Gamescom or even the Tokyo Game Show to hear/see more about this elusive beast.

Microsoft is aware of its presence as well, having announced their own “high-end” system, along with a Slim variant of the Xbox One as well. We’re expecting to hear more information about these at E3, as well. When there is more concrete info to be had about the PS4 Neo, rest assured we’ll be bringing it to you as soon as we catch wind of it, like the game-loving bloodhounds that we are.
