The Order: 1886 Developer To Announce New Game Next Week

The Order Dev To Make An Announcement Next Week

The Order: 1886 was one of the biggest letdowns last year. When the dust settled, the final Metacritic average on Ready at Dawnโ€™s PS4 exclusive landed at 63. It was declared an undeniable failure.

Clearly Ready at Dawn has already moved past it and is ready to announce a new project soon, real soon.

The order

Several months ago, it was reported Ready at Dawn was hiring and working on multiple projects. Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Andrea Pessino said that the company just needs to produce a better game than The Order: 1886 now, and they will.

Just in time for E3, it appears like one of those projects is ready to be revealed. Recently GameStopโ€™s brand new publishing division โ€œGameTrustโ€ recruited studios Ready at Dawn, Frozenbyte, Insomniac and Tequila Works.

Insomniacโ€™s Song of the Deep will be the first game to be released under GameTrust, being scheduled to become available on July 12 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Yesterday, GameStopโ€™s COO Tony Bartel said during the Q1 2016 earnings call:

โ€œNext week, we will be announcing our second game under development, with Ready at Dawn.โ€

It appears this announcement will arrive before E3 but we anticipate weโ€™ll see extended gameplay during the conference. Unfortunately, we donโ€™t know much more than this as Ready at Dawn is keeping a tight lid on things. However, some details can be gleaned from the job listings:

โ€œWe are in the pre-production phase of an exciting new AAA third-person action console title, based on a brand new original IP we are creating. In addition, we are also in full production on a cutting edge VR experience, in partnership with Oculus. Our team is growing, so come join one of the preeminent independent video-game developers in the world.โ€

It is clear this game wonโ€™t only be on the PS4 this time around and we look forward to providing you with more information as it becomes available.
