New Xbox One Controller To Be On Display at E3 According to Report

New Xbox One Controller at E3?

The rumors keep flying in as we inch closer to the E3. Earlier today, we heard about an Xbox One Slim that may be in the works. Well, it doesn’t end there as the latest report claims Microsoft will reveal a new standard Xbox One controller for the console at E3 in LA in June.

According to the article on Windows Central, we can expect to see new hardware at the event and there will be a new standard Xbox One controller that ships with the Xbox One moving forward.

The new standard controller will look similar to the current design, which isn’t all that surprising considering most all Xbox One controllers generally look the same, but will likely come in a new colour (that is not it in the picture below by the way).

Considering that Microsoft currently ships a black controller, a new white or the Xbox branded green design seems like a decent E3 reveal for the console to help boost sales.

According to the report, Microsoft will reveal upcoming “new interactions between the PC and the Xbox One” at E3 2016 but did not go into details. Microsoft has already announced that it will update the Xbox One with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update later this summer.

Most recently in 2015, Microsoft released the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, which cost a whopping $150-175 bucks and offered more high-end features and customization than the standard controller. When we reviewed the controller last year, we had this to say about it:

There’s quite honestly no debate that the Xbox One Elite Controller is a high level, quality build. Everything from the materials, the extra weight, the customization and more screams luxury. The problem is that unless you are a fairly serious gamer you won’t really get enough out of the controller to justify the cost. Does that mean it’s not worth it? Hell no. This controller is worth every penny and anyone who holds and uses one will likely want one for themselves. It might just be hard to swallow for a more casual gamer who doesn’t take full advantage of the customization suite on offer. For that reason I can’t quite recommend the Elite Controller as an absolute must have but if you’ve got a spare $150 lying around (because who doesn’t, right?) you won’t be disappointed.

Stay tuned for more details as they surface.
