Ok, before we all get worked up here let’s clarify that this is strictly in the rumour files! A certain industry insider has made claims that the upcoming Call of Duty game for 2016 will be an all out sci-fi epic set in the very far future (but not in a galaxy far, far away). It is purported to feature space combat and referred to making Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 feeI like the ‘stone age‘.
This rumour comes from a well known industry insider by the name of Shinobi. We can always count on NeoGAF members to spill the beans as soon as they’ve got ’em and this was no exception. Shinobi smugly (I jest) set it all off by suggesting that he had some inside info on the next Call
of Duty after another user expressed disdain at the idea of CoD going futuristic.
Not willing to stop teasing there, Shinobi let loose with all the real goodies… Black Ops 3 is the stone age, and we will be seeing a very futuristic installment to the series.
As we said, these little bits of info are far from confirmed and stuck solidly in the rumour category. As soon as any more details are revealed about Call of Duty’s next entry we’ll get them to you in a hurry. At the very least we know that Shinobi has a history of leaks that have ended up being confirmed. Information leakes on Black Ops 3 last year ended up being true so the odds of this being true as well are fairly high. Currently in development by Infinity Ward, we’ll be sure to keep a keen eye out for more information.
What are your thoughts? Would you welcome the CoD of the future or would that cause you to turn away from the franchise? Let us know down in the comments.
