Minecraft is finally making its way to Nintendo Wii U. Nintendo announced the news that Microsoft is bringing the gaming behemoth to their system earlier today. Arriving on December 17, Minecraft: Wii U Edition features several DLC packs already within the base game, and some Wii U specific features in the form of Wii U GamePad support. While no specifics were given, Nintendo confirmed that they are working with developer Mojang on new content.
Since Minecraft is out on pretty much every gaming platform imaginable at this point, Nintendo fans will be getting some of the most popular add-ons for free. These include: Battle & Beasts Skin Pack, Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack, Natural Texture Pack, City Texture Pack, Fantasy Texture Pack, and the Festive Mash-up Pack. That is a lot of extra content for players, especially for free.
If that isn’t enough to quench your thirst for Minecraft on Wii U, even more DLC packs will be available for purchase. Check out the list of 16 DLC packs below:
- Festive Skin Pack
- The Simpsons Skin Pack
- Doctor Who Skins Volume 1
- Doctor Who Skins Volume 2
- Star Wars Classic Skin Pack
- Star Wars Rebels Skin Pack
- Star Wars Prequel Skin Pack
- Mass Effect Mash-up Pack
- Skyrim Mash-up Pack
- Plastic Texture Pack
- Candy Texture Pack
- Cartoon Texture Pack
- Steampunk Texture Pack
- Pattern Texture Pack
- Greek Mythology Mash-up Pack
- Halloween 2015 Mash-up Pack
For the most part a lot of the DLC makes sense to be on the Wii U version. Star Wars is at a fever pitch right now, and Mass Effect 3 was a launch title for the system. One curious addition is the Skyrim Mash-up pack since no Bethesda titles have made their way to Nintendo’s system. More DLC, including Nintendo-themed content, is expected to come out in the future.
Let us know in the comments what kind of exclusive content would you like to see in Minecraft: Wii U Edition after it launches on December 17!
