Last year, Halo fans were thrilled when it was announced that Xbox Studios and Showtime were teaming up to make a live action Halo TV series with legendary director Steven Spielberg helping produce the series.
However, since that announcement in May 2014, there has been virtually no new word about the development of the series – until now.
IGN reports that Showtime president David Nevins has stated to them that the project is still very much in development, but details were coming “no time soon”. So, bottom line, the show is still on, but when and how it will appear of TV screens is still very cloudy at this point.
One of the reasons for the slow production process for the show is the very complicated negotiations between Showtime and Microsoft, which is very anxious to protect its biggest videogame franchise. Microsoft also wants to stream the show simultaneously on the Xbox One system, and the timing of that will take some working out.
Let’s keep out fingers crossed that the powers-that-be can work things out, and we can finally see Master Chief on TV!
