Indie Open-World Shooter First Wonder Gets New Trailer, Screens

Indie developer Rogue Rocket Games – whose co-founders Nick Bruty and Richard Sun previously worked on Star Wars: Republic Commando, Earthworm Jim, MDK, and Giants: Citizen Kabuto – is excited to share today a brand new trailer for their upcoming epic First Wonder ahead of the game’s premier at PAX Prime 2015. Rogue Rocket Games will present a hands-on teaser for First Wonder in the PAX Rising indie dev area (#4043) for public play.

The latest trailer for First Wonder introduces us to rival characters the Cargonauts and Monstro, and sets up the basic premise of Nick Bruty’s latest comedy action adventure. Watch as Monstro soars over land and sea as he makes his way across First Wonder‘s expansive, open-ended world. The Cargonauts, a team of lowly island workers, are tasked with capturing the terrifying beast using a variety of tools and powerful jet packs for speedy traversal.

Attendees of PAX Prime will be able to get an exclusive first look at First Wonder in Seattle, Washington on August 28 – 31 ahead of its crowdfunding campaign later this year. The four-player teaser will act as a small taste of what First Wonder has to offer. Players will be tasked with navigating through the unfamiliar tropical Majorcan Islands where Monstro lurks, waiting to strike using a repertoire of destructive abilities.

As the Cargonaunts, players must make use of their jetpacks and tools to navigate the world and set elaborate traps for Monstro. Monstro’s size and agility makes him a powerful and elusive foe, able to leap over obstacles, charge at opponents and exploit the natural formations of the expansive Majorcan Islands for quick traversal and strategic strikes. Fans of First Wonder can become special Early Believers and back the game at Rogue Rocket Games’ booth prior to the launch of their crowdfunding campaign later this year.

“PAX Prime marks the first time anyone outside of our office will get hands-on time with First Wonder,” said Rogue Rocket Games Co-founder Nick Bruty. “With First Wonder, we’re working on something truly special and, we think, unusually fun. We hope both fans attending, and editors covering, PAX will stop by our booth and play the game to get an advanced peek at what we’re looking to complete with our crowdfunding campaign early this fall.”

In First Wonder, players will alternatively take the reigns of Monstro and the ragtag team of Cargonauts as they try to stop him. The living, breathing chain of Majorcan Islands – a “character” in its own right – offers a dynamic world with unique inhabitants and natural resources awaiting player interaction. Many secrets lay hidden within First Wonder, as tiered plateaus, surreal geological features, and surprising environmental effects create a rich and unpredictable alien world.
