New X-Men: Apocalypse Images, Plot Details Revealed

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first-look at some images of the new X-Men movie characters, as well as some previously-unreleased plot details.

Of particular interest to X-Men fans is the first image the titular villain: Apocalypse. Oscar Isaac, who plays Apocalypse, has described his character as “the creative-slash-destructive force of this earth. When things start to go awry, or when things seem like they’re not moving towards evolution, he destroys those civilizations.”

EW also reveals new details about the upcoming film, including which mutants Apocalypse recruits as his “four horsemen.” According to the article, Apocalypse will recruit a young Storm from the streets of Cairo, Angel from Berlin, and Psylocke, who is working “behind the iron curtain” for Caliban.

Finally, Apocalypse’s fourth horseman is Magneto, who actor Michael Fassbender says has “fallen in love and he’s basically left his metal ways behind. Apocalypse finds Erik at a low ebb and recruits him.”

EW’s article also reveals an early relationship between Mystique and Nightcrawler in Apocalypse.  This is significant because, in comics, the two are mother and son.
