Today on Capcom Unity, a brief apology and statement regarding the next step for the Street Fighter V beta was released. As the launch for the beta was quite a flunk with a very small handful of North American players – and an even smaller handful of European and Asian players – able to play it, it was said “it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for”.
It goes on to say that “After three days of testing, while we were making progress and collecting valuable data, we felt the majority of players were not having a good experience, and the best course of action would be to take the servers offline for extended maintenance. We will be postponing our first beta phase until we believe the experience is going to be a positive one for players”.
In terms of what this mean for the entire beta test run, it’s been stated that “this first beta test attempt will not count toward our previously announced beta test allotments. There will still be at least three full beta tests prior to the game’s launch”. Basically, the very first three days of the beta testing period does not count towards the actual beta testing stream.
On one hand this is what betas are for – working out issues and patching up hiccups found in them. However, the beta was hit relentlessly with problems preventing players from even passing the start screen. Nonetheless, hopefully players will be able to access the beta soon and actually play it.
