You’ve probably noticed that companies like Nintendo have been tying their game content increasingly to the use of a toy – like Amiibo, in the case of Nintendo. Splatoon is one recent example of a game that requires Amiibo to unlock certain content.
According to Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, this will not be the case with the upcoming game Star Fox Zero. Miyamoto told Kotaku that “in terms of being able to unlock content, I don’t really want to go down that path. For this game, I think of it more as, for people who have the Amiibo, they’re going to get a little something extra and that’s how I’m planning on it with this game.”
In other words, if you have Amiibo, then you will be able to possibly get some extras in Star Fox Zero – but it will not be a requirement.
This news is either good or bad, depending on which side of the Amiibo line you stand on: if you love the cute toys, then it might be disappointing. If you are not a fan of them, then this is great. One thing is for certain: it’s always good when game content is made available to everyone, without having to purchase extra add-ons.
