EA has come out with a new subscription plan for Xbox users called ‘EA Access’. For $5 a month (or $30 a year), you get access to ‘The Vault’, which is EA’s collection of digital games. EA plans to kick start the beta version of the program soon.
EA has stated that during the beta, users will have ‘unlimited access’ to the four games that are being offered which are FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, Madden NFL 25, and Peggle 2. It isn’t clear if the ‘unlimited’ part will continue on after the beta stage. The subscription also nets users a 10% discount on EA’s digital content such as DLC, full games or even access trials to games a week before release with save files that copy over when you purchase the retail version! Games available for early access with the save file bonus are Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15, NHL 15, NBA Live 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
While this is a power move by EA, is this something that other developers will start to offer, or will this be a one time deal? Let us know your thoughts below.
