Commodore 64 Mini Announced, Launching Early 2018

The C64 Mini Comes With 64 Games And is Equipped for Modern TV’s

With the success of Nintendo’s “Mini Classic Series” amongst other retro micro-consoles, it was just a matter of time until we see this model get replicated. Today, we’ve learned that the classic 1982 home computer, the Commodore 64, is getting its own fully-licensed mini version called the C64 Mini.

The C64 Mini is 50 % smaller than the original Commodore 64 hardware and will be updated with HDMI output for modern televisions. It also comes with a joystick and will include 64 licensed games pre-installed so you can start playing classics such as California Games, Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, Paradroid, and Impossible Mission. Similar to the NES and SNES Classic, it’ll be able to save your game at any time and will offer various filters to make the experience as authentic as possible. You can see the entire list of games here. The hardware even has two USB ports so you can plug in a standard USB keyboard or extra joysticks.

The hardware is being designed by Retro Games and will be distributed globally by Koch Media. Interestingly, a full-sized version will also be available but at a later date in 2018. We assume that this will replicate the original design exactly, removing the Mini moniker altogether.

The C64 Mini is scheduled to be out in “early 2018” and will retail for £69.99/$69.99/€79.99. Orders can be made at the C64 Mini website.
