Rumor: Switch’s Battery Might Not Be Terrible After All

New Info Gives Nintendo Switch Five to Eight Hours of Runtime

A report from Switchne.ws gives a more reasonable estimation of the Switch’s possible battery life. Previous estimates put the Nintendo Switch at around three hours of runtime, presumably under optimal settings. Hardly enough time to wander around a dog park or basketball court playing games. However, this updated info, if proven true, would leave players with significantly more play time.

Nintendo Switch

Old estimates on the Switch’s battery life came from previously released dev kits and are not the final numbers, reports claim. If true, this is a step in the right direction for Nintendo. Battery life is a major component for consumers on the fence about a given purchase. A battery that performs at or beyond the level of their other handheld systems could be the tipping point for many players.

Between this and the reports of titles coming to the Switch, Nintendo could very well have a hit on their hands. No telling yet if the system will reach the stellar sales figures of the Wii, but for now, the hype is building.
