In what was one of the more bizarre reveals from Sonic’s 25th Anniversary, Sonic is coming to the popular series LEGO Dimensions. The debut trailer shows off just what all that the iconic character is going to be getting up to when you play as him and it’s not just going to be chasing down golden rings, this time.

Sonic’s worldwide debut trailer shows him riding turrets from Portal, fighting sentient mailboxes, and navigating haunted houses. The trailer’s scenarios are something you’d expect to find out of fan fiction, but this is far from the case. Fans will be able to take Sonic across all sorts of bizarre adventures in the popular LEGO title, and it’s interesting to see such an iconic character get the LEGO treatment. LEGO Dimensions is a strong entry in the entire collection of LEGO video games, and this series is continuing to appeal to fans of all ages with a wide range of characters that one can play as. Sonic’s 25th anniversary yielded a wide number of announcements, including what was revealed to be Sonic Mania, a re-imagining of popular levels from Sega’s franchise. The event also revealed the work-in-progress title called Project Sonic 2017, which one could imagine would be the next entry into the popular series.

LEGO Sonic is coming to the popular title this coming November, and fans will be able to get their hands on his minifig, along with Sonic’s trademark car The Speedster, and Tails’ plane, The Tornado. It’s intriguing to see popular video game characters begin to get this sort of treatment in LEGO form, and one has to wonder if anything else could be in the mix. Would it be crazy to wonder if everyone’s favourite plumber could be coming to the title at some point?
