Top 5 Video Games Arriving in March 2021

Balan Wonderworld – PC, PS4/5, Switch, X1/S – Mar 26

Balan Wonderworld is a 3D action platformer published by Square Enix. Perhaps the most notable piece of information regarding this game is that it is being directed by Yuji Naka with its art direction by Naoto Ohshima, the individuals behind Sonic the Hedgehog and Nights into Dreams. Both of the games have clear influences on Balan Wonderworld through their use of music, collectibles, and art style. While it would be tough to match its influences in success, Balan Wonderworld has garnered a decent amount of interest, and we look forward to seeing what it ultimately becomes.

Loop Hero – PC – Mar 4

Loop Hero blends a couple of different genres together to produce an interesting take on the genres. Specifically, the game is a simulation/strategy game that puts players into an endless loop created by the Lich King. In addition to the roguelike features, the game features a deck of cards that allow for the creation of expeditions for the hero in which they earn loot and expand a survivor’s camp for future runs. There is definitely a lot to absorb with Loop Hero, but we’re excited to dive in and experience this for ourselves.

Monster Hunter Rise – Switch – Mar 26

The latest installment in the Monster Hunter series comes exclusively to the Nintendo Switch in March. While the game is also due to release next year on PC, it is worth noting that the last mainline Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter World, did not make it to the Nintendo Switch, with the console only receiving an enhanced version of the spinoff Monster Hunter Generations. Rise implements many of the improvements found in World, while also including new features such as a new companion, wire bugs to increase vertical mobility, and the ability to mount certain monsters. For those who don’t know what Monster Hunter is all about, it can be extremely simplified into hunting monsters, craft gear with monster parts, and repeat, and that works just fine for us!
