9 Reasons Why You’ll Love Spyro Reignited Trilogy

It’s Massive

With over 100 levels and 400 characters, the Trilogy is massive. Some may be disappointed you aren’t getting any new levels; however, the development team wanted to maintain the integrity of the original games and not distract players by throwing in new levels. They also wanted to make sure they were giving the existing levels the attention they deserved. At the time of writing, I was unable to confirm with Toys for Bob how much download space you’ll need but I have heard rumors you’ll need around 50GB of hard drive space. This isn’t Red Dead 2 massive, but still large nonetheless.

$40 Dollar Game

In a day when almost every AAA game is around 70-80 bucks, it’s nice to get a meaty game that is affordably priced. Given you get three full-sized rebuilt remastered Sypro games built from the ground up, it is great value for the buck. The cheaper price should put a smile on parents faces this holiday season and inevitably get more folks playing the game.

Goofy Interactions

It’s all about re-capturing those iconic moments from your childhood memory and Toys for Bob made it their mission to ensure no stone was left unturned. This includes some of those goofy interactions between characters. It is those subtle tweaks to the animations that make some of those silly interactions hilarious and magical. It all makes for a charming experience.

Insomniac Had a Say

Toys for Bob made a point of reaching out to Insomniac before they started development. Not only to snap up whatever assets they could provide but also to get some of their feedback with the direction they were headed with the franchise. While Insomniac didn’t have final say, Toys for Bob definitely consulted with them to ensure they were doing the originals justice.

Modernized Controls

Granted, the lack of ability to change the inverted controls during the underwater segments was infuriating for me but otherwise controlling Spyro felt great. You have the option to switch back and forth between original controls and Reignited controls. So if things don’t quite feel as authentic as you feel it should be, you can always revert to the original controls.
