Cyberpunk 2077 Potential Release on Next-Gen Consoles

CDPR Talks on Potential Cyberpunk 2077 Release to Next-Gen Consoles

As good as Cyberpunk 2077 is looking on current-gen consoles, I think we can all agree that if it’s possible for the game to appear on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, we’d all love for it to happen. Well, this may be more of a realistic outcome than we previously thought, as developer CD Projekt Red recently responded to a tweet that provided a little insight into what we may expect down the line.

When asked about the possibility of Cyberpunk 2077 coming to next-gen consoles, the developer responded with, “Possibly, however (the) current generation is our main focus at the moment.”

It’s no surprise that CD Projekt Red would be considering a move like this. After the wildly successful Witcher 3, fans have eagerly been awaiting the next big release from the Polish developer. Witcher 3 was one of those rare games that had such a high level of quality that fans routinely purchased it for multiple systems, so it’s easy to see the same thing happening with Cyberpunk 2077.

This isn’t the first time CD Projekt Red has brought up the possibility of the game appearing on next-gen consoles, either. In an interview from last year, the developer stated, “Right now we’re focusing on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but obviously in the future, we’d probably like to have Cyberpunk 2077 on the next platforms. But that’s really a matter for the future, to be honest. Right now, we’re focusing on these.”

What do you think of Cyberpunk 2077 coming to next-gen consoles? It sure does seem inevitable. If so, would you consider waiting for the newer version before diving in? Sound off in the comments section below and let us know, and as always, stay social by following us on Twitter.
