Ranking the Top 10 Video Game Trailers of 2017

3) Death Stranding

This trailer from the Game Awards 2017 is the first time we saw any gameplay from Death Stranding and holy is it ever confusing. You might have thought the more we saw of the game, the more we might understand, but that’s just not the case. Though the trailer is a bit on the longer side clocking in at 8 minutes, I just couldn’t stop watching. This trailer is sure to have you scratching your head, pulling you further into it amongst its mystery and intrigue. And yes, we all had the exact same thought: what in the actual hell is with that damn baby? Honestly, there is no other way to describe this trailer than totally bizarre and just a tad creepy. And no, that’s definitely not a bad thing here.

2) Detroit: Become Human

There’s no denying that this particular trailer revealed during Paris Games Week is full of violence. Despite this, there is a raw emotional side to the game that was captured in full for the first time since its reveal. Obviously Detroit: Become Human is not a game to scoff at, and Quantic Dream made that perfectly clear here. Dealing with some powerful and impactful issues, like domestic violence and gun violence, it’s hard to be anything but excited to see what is to come! Of course, if you’re anything like me, I was biting my nails the entire time, hoping for the best possible outcome.

1) The Last of Us Part II

Although the big reveal for The Last of Us Part II came in late 2016, until this trailer during Paris Games Week, we had yet to really see more than just a small glimpse into the sequel to the popular and hard-hitting original title The Last of Us. Naughty Dog did not disappoint here, with the introduction to some new characters, and a very real struggle for life. Like Detroit: Become Human, this trailer also saw quite a bit of blowback for its violence, yet if we’re being honest, would it really feel like The Last of Us without it? There’s no denying that this trailer had me on the edge of my seat, hoping the characters would kick their captors ass. If this trailer doesn’t make you long to play The Last of Us Part II, I don’t think anything ever will.

Interestingly, both Death Stranding and The Last of Us Part II were ranked the exact same in last years edition of the best trailers of the year. What trailers from 2017 were your favorite?
