The 3 Best and 3 Worst Games From November 2017

The Worst

Nightmare Boy

Nightmare Boy is a Metroidvania style action adventure game, which is a genre that always intrigues, but not always executes. Nightmare Boy falls into the latter, with awful writing, boring characters, and being frustrating overall. In our review, we noted that “Nightmare Boy had the potential to be a quirky and fun take on the Metroidvania platform, but it squanders that potential by falling flat in nearly all the fundamental components of what makes those types of games fun to play in the first place.”

Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back

A revival of an old series, Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back is one that no one in particular expected nor wanted. Despite that, the game is here, and brings a kid-friendly platformer to home consoles. Unfortunately, repetitive outdated gameplay, which is perhaps the most important part of any game, make this title one of the months worst. According to our review of Bubsy’s latest title, “bringing him to current gen while changing nothing was an insurmountable mistake.”

Road Rage

Having the unfortunate distinction of receiving our lowest score of November 2017, Road Rage actually sounded promising on paper. A motorcycle combat game in an open world with a large amount of missions, insane weaponry, and customization sure sounds intriguing at the very least. However, our review notes that “with a game that constantly breaks, unstable controls, a pointless map, flat story, and repetitive rock music riffs for audio, Road Rage might incite rage in the gamer, but for all the wrong reasons.”
