The 3 Best and Worst Games From January 2018

The Worst

The Inpatient

Coming from Supermassive Games, the developers behind Until Dawn, The Inpatient was a game that was heavily anticipated. Though the game has an outstanding sound design, beautifully detailed environments, and an interesting narrative through the first half hour, it fell short of expectations. In the end, poor character development, a convoluted narrative, and sluggish controls all contributed to The Inpatient’s sluggishness.

Kirby: Battle Royale

Perhaps best described by our very own Alex Everatt, Kirby: Battle Royale “might not be terrible, but it’s definitely not up to par.” Despite some fun mini-games, there are only 10 mini-games which according to our review, results in the player playing the same mini-games over and over again. That said, the game is difficult to recommend given its lack of content.

Legrand Legacy

Legrand Legacy had all the components to be a successful title, but unfortunately we found that it just did not click together. Despite some great world design, we found that Legrand Legacy’s dialogue fell flat at times, the interrupt system is unfair, and the in-game economy feels uneven. In our review, we found that “While this game has many hallmarks of a successful RPG, they fail to coalesce into a really memorable experience.”
