3 Best and 3 Worst Games from June 2017

The Worst

Formula Fusion

Formula Fusion had just been taken off Early Access for its full release one week ahead of the release of the Wipeout: Omega Collection. It was clear that Formula Fusion was rushed to market to capitalize on the timing, given the lack of features and bugs. Though the game does look graphically splendid, both the campaign and multiplayer were disappointing, bugs were countless, the soundtrack was sub-par, and the difficulty was inconsistent between races. Unfortunately, Formula Fusion was a disappointment for our reviewer, despite containing solid elements to build upon.

Ancient Amuletor

Ancient Amuletor is another PlayStation VR (and soon to be released on PC) title that has simple mechanics and unfortunately feels a lot like other PSVR titles. While the character classes of this tower defense shooter are varied and levels can be challenging, Ancient Amuletor is another generic VR title that fails to live up to expectations of owners of a very expensive piece of impressive technology. While cooperative play is present and a focus of the title, its utilization actually takes away from the game’s frantic pace. Overall, the title disappointed by being just another VR game that failed to make an impact.

Randall

While Ancient Amuletor feels like just another VR game, Randall feels like just another side-scrolling platformer. Although the game has colorful environments and an intriguing fighting system that encourages combinations, the game falls victim to similar genre shortfalls. Namely that the fighting system is a bit clunky, the platforming can be a nuisance, and the story is bland. While Randall had potential, it unfortunately is just another side-scrolling platforming that fails to make a memorable impression.
