3 Reasons to Buy and 3 Reasons to Avoid the Witcher 3: Complete Edition

3 Reasons to Avoid

Save Doesn’t Carry Over

The biggest disappointment about the Complete Edition is that save files from the default game do not carry over. This will understandably be a deal breaker for some, and I don’t blame them. Unless you want to use the already leveled up character for the expansions or want to replay the entire game again, having all that play time go down the drain is a really tough pill to swallow.

Controls Still Feel Clunky

Over a year of DLC, patches and updates and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt still feels strangely unwieldy to control. While players will surely get used to it after the dozens of hours the RPG takes, it’s still pretty ridiculous that this issue was never fixed. It makes combat feel unpolished at times, and it’s the biggest flaw in what is otherwise a true accomplishment for the medium.

Massive Time Commitment

By picking up The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition, you are committing to spending literally weeks of your life to this game. It’s asking a lot from gamers, and it might be sensible to pass on it because of this. In the time it’ll take to finish CD Projekt RED’s massive RPG, players could beat almost every other major release this holiday season. From Gears of War 4 to World of Final Fantasy, there are a ton of other games to be playing right now. Players that pick up The Witcher 3 will get one incredible experience, but they could also be using that time to have a great time with dozens of games.
