Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered – 3 Things We Love & 3 Things We Hate

The Hate List

Annoying Directional/Objective Navigation

The most recent Call of Duty games have all been fairly straightforward on where we needed to go and what our objectives are in the campaign, however the system used within COD: Modern Warfare Remastered is a bit annoying. At the bottom of your screen it shows a directional bar, and your objective will be highlighted in yellow in the area you need to go. It isn’t always easy to figure out exactly which door to take and where to turn because the directions can cause you to get a bit turned around. Quite literally even, there are times where you may follow the yellow circle, only to realize the tiny number is actually getting larger and you are walking in the wrong direction. Maybe it is a lack of knowing exactly which way the character is facing in the game, or maybe it is because it seems like you are always going the right way at any given time, but either way this setup is just weird.

Difficulty Targeting and Seeing Enemy Combatants

Trying to determine who the enemy is before getting shot at is one thing that makes COD: Modern Warfare Remastered difficult. It is hard to see the enemies clearly through certain scopes, and eerily, the enemies look just like your teammates with very minor differences. As if this wasn’t hard enough, the aim assist does not do much and you may find your enemies in your sights slower than you are used to in the recent games of the franchise. If you are someone who never really uses a sight on any weapons, this will be the perfect scenario for you, however if you are someone who plays better with a sight, this game will take some getting used to.

Lack of Weapons Customization

The lack of weapons customization for the campaign in COD: Modern Warfare Remastered is not the end of the world, however it is worth mentioning in case you were hoping it would be part of the game. Due to recent Call of Duty games it has become a welcomed addition  to customize your weapons for the campaign. COD: Modern Warfare Remastered does not necessarily lack anything by not having this customization as a part of the game, but it would have been nice to have the option to do so. Considering the point I made above about the difficulty seeing enemies in your sights, it would have been useful to have a red dot sight at your disposal, or a weapon with better accuracy at any given time.

Infinite Warfare Screens

While there could have been a few more changes and improvements made to the gameplay, so far COD: Modern Warfare Remastered seems to be the same fantastic game it was in 2007, with the look and feel of a new generation game. While Activision stuck to its roots, they are definitely giving us a better version of the original game and I cannot wait for the multiplayer portion to drop on November 4th.
