7 Reasons Why You Need Jump Into The Souls Series

4. Enemies

Like I mentioned above, fights against enemies are intense and can be downright frustrating. To add onto this, some enemies are absolutely horrendous and creepy-looking. Also, many of the bosses you’ll face are huge – if not gigantic – and are quite intimidating. While the Souls series is a bucket full of dark and creepy beings within a medieval world, there are a handful of snazzy looking knights and dragons. Each enemy is unique with their own abilities, weaknesses, and strengths. By the end of each game, you’ll know how to duke it out with each one so you don’t get humiliatingly slaughtered.

5. Online Play

If there’s anything more rewarding and fulfilling to do in the Souls games, it’s helping (or hindering) another player. The online community throughout the Souls games are courteous, hilarious, and just great. It’s a really fun community to be involved with since everyone benefits from helping each other out. Of course, it isn’t perfect but there’s an outlet for those people who just want to kill other players through PvP by invading a game. PvP also includes tons of friendly battles where both players acknowledge each other by bowing first before they fight. I guess the online community is friendly because the games sure aren’t.

6. Story/Lore

The Souls series story and lore isn’t served to you on a silver platter. In fact, you actually have to decipher and collect items in the game to understand and piece together the story. All you really know is that it’s creepy and scattered at the start, but slowly comes together to construct a solid and relatively deep lore. The cinematics, item descriptions, environment, enemies, and NPCs all come together to create the intriguing and mysterious worlds created by FromSoftware.

7. NPCs

Aside from the NPCs having a huge role in the story and lore within the Souls series, they also individually have their own charm, history, and importance behind them. You’ll not only learn about the world from them, but also their own personal role and goals. Just like the enemies in the game, some NPCs are absolutely creepy while others are peculiar and draw you in. Some NPCs can even fight by your side if you choose to bring them along in a boss fight, while others will simply be there to sell you items or teach you new skills. Either way, the NPCs in the game come in a variety and are just as diverse as the enemies.
