Resistance 4 Is ‘A Longshot’, Insomniac Says

The ‘Resistance’ IP Is Owned By Sony, According to Insomniac

It’s been almost seven years since Resistance 3 came out and there are still series fans out there who are waiting on a sequel or continuation of some kind. However, according to series developer Insomniac Games, the chances of a Resistance 4 being announced are “a longshot”.

“It feels like it’s a longshot to me,” said James Stevenson, the community director at Insomniac. “But I have learned over the years to never say never. I think there are a lot of people out there that have fond memories of a Resistance game from the PS3 era, but yeah, never say never, it’s just that we have no plans to make another Resistance game in the future.”

When he was asked about the possibility of another developer making a Resistance game, Stevenson answered that Sony owns the IP and a new game in the series could be made without the involvement of Insomniac Games.

“So I guess if they were really passionate about making Resistance 4 and we couldn’t or didn’t want to do it, Sony could totally engage another developer,” said Stevenson. “But that would be up to Sony, not us.”
