Divinity: Original Sin 2 for Consoles Is Getting Serious Multiplayer Add-ons

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Gets Revamped for Xbox One and PS4

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a critically acclaimed RPG developed by Larian Studios, a game renowned for how it lets players personalize the campaign. Thanks to its success on PC, it’s making its way to consoles, and the dev team is adding some notable features.

For the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian Studios is revamping their Arena Mode. Thanks to an overhaul of the game’s multiplayer facets, console players will have access to online PvP, new characters, and a special hot seat mode that facilitates controller switching. This means players can assemble their own special teams of characters and tests their turn-based prowess like never before. But the console’s multiplayer won’t simply witness a few tweaks; the devs are introducing 16 new characters, some of which have never been played.

Divinity: Original Sin 2’s new Arena Mode will arrive in two forms: “Classic Death Match” and “Kill the King.” While the former is a last-man-standing match, the latter is a game of wit to see who can dispatch the other team’s VIP. Playable across 13 unique maps, 5 of which are new, Arena Mode brings chests whose spells and scrolls can turn the tides in a player’s favor. Moreover, the introduction of “Mutators” can alter the rules of each match. Examples of Mutators include parameters that make every character fly or low on health.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition will hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 31st. Additional content may be revealed in the days leading up to launch, so stay tuned for details.
