‘Gran Turismo Sport’ Update Brings Microtransactions & New Cars

GT Sport’s Latest Update Adds Many New Features

This month’s Gran Turismo Sport update will bring eight new cars, a new racing track, microtransactions, and more. An official video for the update can be watched below.

Screenshots of all the new cars featured in the update can be viewed here and the new track is named “Circuit de Sainte-Croix”. The track has three different configurations (that can also all be raced in reverse) and it’s based off a real-life race track that’s located in Southern France.

One potentially controversial new feature of the update is the addition of microtransactions to GT Sport. “Cars that cost less than 2,000,000 in-game [credits] can now be purchased directly through the PS Store, in addition to your standard in-game purchases,” read a bullet point in the update’s changelog.

Microtransactions will become active today on Monday for players in Asia and the Americas while for players in Europe, Africa, Oceania & the Middle East they’ll activate on August 2nd.

It should be noted that last summer, Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said that microtransactions wouldn’t be in GT Sport. COGconnected has contacted Sony for an explanation about this sudden change and will update the story if they respond.

As for the many other features of the update, they can be read about here. If you’d like to buy Gran Turismo Sport then check out our review of it before you make your purchase.
