The Winners for the E3 2018 Game Critics Awards Have Been Announced

Every year, the Game Critics present the Best of E3 awards recognizing the games that are the pinnacle of interactive entertainment and just before the weekend the nominees were revealed for the E3 2018 Game Critics Awards. Now the winners have officially been announced and let’s just say you might be surprised by who won Best of Show.

Are you ready for it? Capcom’s remake of the survival horror classic Resident Evil 2, which originally came out for the PlayStation in 1998, took home the Best of Show award which makes it the only third-party Japanese game to do so in 20 years!  Sony was the most successful publisher out of all that were nominated taking home six different awards. These included Best Original Game for Media Molecule’s Dreams, as well as special commendations for graphics and sound for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us: Part II. Behind Sony EA received four awards, while Microsoft took home three. You can check out the full list of winners for the Game Critics Awards 2018 below.

Best RPG

  • Kingdom Hearts III (Square Enix for PS4, Xbox One)

Best Fighting Game

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Bandai Namco Studios/Sorta Ltd./Nintendo for Switch)

Best Family/Social Game

  • Overcooked 2 (Ghost Town Games/Team 17 for PS4, Switch, Xbox One)

Best Online Multiplayer

  • Battlefield V (EA Dice/EA for PC, PS4, Xbox One)

Best Independent Game

  • Ori and the Will of Wisps (Moon Studios/Microsoft for PC, Xbox One)

Best Ongoing Game

  • Fortnite (Epic for iOS, Mac, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One)

Special Commendations for Graphics

  • Cyberpunk 2077 (CD Projekt Red for PC, PS4, Xbox One)
